Thom's Blog Box...

...the week of September 11th went something like this:
Although we here in America morn the victims of The World Trade Center thoughts of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki still run in my mind, What is the difference between our 9/11 and the fact that we as Americans killed so many innocent people?
Yes, many responses received, but this in particular stood out...We are still in September, a month we should remember, but point made - we should identify, recognize and realize ALL life's lost. In Thom's own words " The United States has killed thousands of people and on the same day of reflection for who was killed on American soil, we should reflect on ALL acts of war and terror globally. This was not a comparison of 9/11 but merely a thought of innocent lives lost"
Here is what some had to say:

From Karlsberg: So here are my thoughts: As we spoke last night about this ( Rob and I ) you can not compare the two because the scenario's given is war between countries. and 9/11 was a terrorist group attacking us- not a govt of a country- the terrorists hate this country. If the topic was or question was - What do you think about the US worrying about everyone else with nuclear weapons and saying it is a no-no?The US is guilty of that scenario in the past- it does not matter if it was a war- we used nuclear weapons. We should all worry- the world- about South Korea - it is a real issue- we should know- we are the only ones in the world that dropped the nuclear bomb- sure we might have had allies in that war- but WE are still responsible for the bomb,But in no way can I compare the above to 9/11.Are we killing innocent people in Iraq caught in this debacle - yes- as is Iraq- but that does not make it right. Just imagine a land war here- overturning the borough pres- and the Govt taking control- fighting the St. George warriors and in this- Dongan Hills gets hits with a missile - innocent people are killed. - That is why - no war- peace!
